Moorhayes Farm Cheese Dairy Visit
Date Posted : September 1, 2008
A hidden gem in Charlton Musgrove
For once the weather was kind and 140 people ventured out to Moorhayes Farm on Friday for a fascinating evening. What’s more a fantastic – £1500 was raised and for this we must offer our heartfelt thanks to the Keens. Their generosity means that all the proceeds from the event including the cheese sales are being donated to the Charlton Musgrove Memorial Hall Appeal.
Sue and George gave us all such a warm welcome and provided us with a delicious ploughman’s supper. Jennie, Stephen, James and other members of the family organised the ‘tours’ of the dairy, ran the bar and were crucial behind the scenes.
The feature in the Blackmore Vale magazine brought visitors from far and wide, cheese lovers and regular customers came from Tisbury, Fovant and Frome as well as the local contingency. It was such a priviledge to see how the traditional cheddar is made and then to sit in the garden enjoying the view while sampling some of Somerset’s finest food!
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you
