The old hall is now demolished

Going, Going, Gone
The old hall is now demolished. The new hall will be repositioned on
the site by rotating it 4 meters moving it back from the road. This is
due in part to the recent appearance of a new electricity pole and
stay. It is a much better position for the hall with improved access
to all areas.

Work will start soon on the new hall. We will keep this website
updated as work progresses.
Many thanks to all involved in the recent clear out, tree moving and
hedge laying.

Village Hall Memorial
As part of the project to rebuild the Charlton Musgrove Memorial Hall a small group of volunteers undertook a review of the memorial aspects of the Hall. As you will know the present hall was built to commemorate those from the village who gave their lives in the First and Second World Wars. Their names were listed on a small plaque in the Hall. It is proposed to add more detail to a new plaque for the new Hall as set out below:
1914 – 1918
Pte C Alner – Somerset Light Infantry
Pte PW Baker – Dorsetshire Regiment
Pte FJ Cox – Somerset Light Infantry
Pte CJ Dukes – Dorsetshire Regiment
Pte P Francis – North Somerset Yeomanry
I Frewin
Capt FAC Liebert – North Somerset Yeomanry
Pte S Prince – Somerset Light Infantry
Pte FW Read – Royal Guernsey Light Infantry
1939 – 1945
HA Cox
Sjt P Crouch – Somerset Light Infantry
Plt Off FF Pepper – Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve
Lt RJF Stanton – The Royal Scots
Major CCA Wilson – Hampshire Regiment
Since the end of the Second World War we are aware of one other death in military service: Major Peter Dodge, Royal Anglian Regiment, who was killed in Northern Ireland in 1970. We believe his name should be commemorated in the new Hall.
We are now seeking your help to find out details of the Rank and Regiment of I Frewin and HA Cox (highlighted in red above) and to discover if there are any names missing from those listed, including any who might have lost their lives since 1945.
If you have information that might be useful to help complete these projects please email or telephone the undersigned. Thank you
