As part of the Parish Plan questionnaire villagers were asked if they thought the Smithy should be retained as a pub and an overwhelming majority of 82% said it should. At our public consultation 50 people signed the petition to SAVE THE PUB and many more have signed since.
The owners have now submitted a planning application for change of use to a domestic dwelling. People have THREE weeks to write to the council to express their views – ie letters etc must be received by SSDC no later than Monday 9th January. There will be no extension of time to allow for the Christmas holidays.

The Steering Committee have already produced an interim report regarding The Smithy pub which will be included in the final full parish plan and which was endorsed by the Parish Council at their meeting on 9th November and forwarded to SSDC.
