Smithy Pub

As you may have already seen the Smithy has applied for a change of use from a pub to a private dwelling, anyone wishing to make representations to SSDCmay do so now to the address already below.
 
The Parish Council will discuss this matter and vote to recommend acceptance or refusal of this application at our meeting on the 11th January 2012 at the village hall 7.30 pm, anyone wishing to make their feelings known to us can contact one of us or attend the meeting.
 
Please be aware that the Parish Councils decision will only be one part which SSDC take into consideration when deciding this application, the number of personal letters of support or rejection of this application will also play a large part in their decision one way or another.

As part of the Parish Plan questionnaire villagers were asked if they thought the Smithy should be retained as a pub and an overwhelming majority of 82% said it should.  At our public consultation 50 people signed the petition to SAVE THE PUB and many more have signed since. 

The owners have now submitted a planning application for change of use to a domestic dwelling.  People have THREE weeks to write to the council to express their views – ie letters etc must be received by SSDC no later than Monday 9th January.  There will be no extension of time to allow for the Christmas holidays.
